July 17, 2009:
LAST MINUTE CHANGES
Due to country road
maintenance and a community
event in the Hamlet of
Owasco, the road courses
had to be slightly
modified. New maps are
posted on the Stage 3 Road
Race link and the download
link, The course distances
for the Mens Pro 1-2, Cat
3, Masters 40+ and Cat 4
categories have now been
shortened by approximately
5 miles. That's probably a
welcomed change. The
shorter distance is
actually a better coursse!
To reflect these changes
new maps are available on
the Download Page and
separate que sheets for
each race are available as
well.
In addition, the Citizens
Open race WILL NOT
be climbing Murphy Hill Rd.
The Race Committee has
determined that the typical
"citizen" rider may not
have the proper gearing or
conditioning to complete
this climb.
Finally, the Mens Pro-1-2
and the Cat 3 field will
most likely be combined to
enlarge the field size.
Scoring for the KOM contest
and yellow jerseys will be
kept separate.
July 1, 2009:
We apologize for abruptly
scaling down the Owasco
Stage Race to a Sunday only
road race. Rather than get
into the political
difficulties that prevented
a full weekend of racing we
feel it is best to
concentrate on the road
race that we have planned.
The race will take place
rain
or shine. We
urge you to get the word
out to others who may not
know that the race is now a
Sunday only event . The
entry
fees have been reduced
to reflect the reduced
racing, but we have to
admit
YOU
WILL NOT BE CHALLENGED MORE
BY ANY OTHER RACE COURSE
you may find yourself on in
NY State, or the for that
matter the entire
northeast.
The information on
BikeReg.com is 100%
accurate as on 7/12/2009.
The Race Flyer is 100%
updated, as is the q-sheet
and course maps. Come race
day, there may be a minor
detour when the race passes
through the Hamlet of
Owasco due to a community
event that will be going
on, but that has not yet
been determined. Safety
will be the determining
factor in that decision.
Feel free to email the race
director if you have any
questions that are not
answered from this website
and BikeReg.com.
We work hard to keep
everyone informed, but the
week heading into the race
is hectic, so check this
area often and take note of
the time stamp in the upper
right hand corner.
